Dr. Blackwell's passion for safer, healthier living began by looking inward at her children's health and her own. Her background in toxicology studies propelled her to find solutions that were not only effective, but sustainable and less toxic than traditional dental treatments.
Her mission is to support her patients with long-term oral health and whole-body wellness in a safe, collaborative, clean, and comfortable space.
Dr. Blackwell’s interest in environmental sustainability started early. She earned her undergraduate degree in Environmental Science at Spelman College where she studied land, water, and air toxicology and its effects on the human body. She earned her dental degree at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, School of Dentistry, and following dental school, completed her residency training at the VA Medical Center in Washington, D.C.
She stays active in her mission to further her education, as well as staying up-to-date on advancements in technology and techniques. Dr. Blackwell is currently a member of the American Dental Association, Louisiana Dental Association, Louisiana Academy of General Dentistry, Holistic Dental Association, International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology (IAOMT), International Academy of Biological Dentistry and Medicine and The Weston A. Price Foundation.
As a Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD), Dr. Blackwell is in the top 6% of dentists in the country. Her commitment to staying on the leading edge of dentistry is never ending as she takes over 100 hours of continuing education every year.
Beyond dentistry, she enjoys spending her free time practicing yoga, reading, learning, and exploring outdoors. She loves living in her hometown of New Orleans with her husband and their three young boys, and fervently pursues healthy living in every area of her life.
"My hope is to heal patients by attending to all aspects of the body, approaching treatment with a broad perspective of Eastern and Western cultures."
